A healthier cocktail with a refreshing twist!
Cheers to cocktails with a healthy twist! I spent 15 years behind the bar and have learned a zillion ways to make a drink but as I moved into a healthier mindset my challenge was finding a way to still make great tasting cocktails that are “healthier” and don’t break the calorie budget! I found some hacks that help cut calories without sacrificing the taste or the flavors!
KC’s Low-Cal Elderflower Margarita:
2 oz. Tequila ( I used Herradura Silver for a light clean taste)
1 oz. elderflower (St. Germain Liquor or Elderflower Water)
3 drops of Sweet Leaf Orange Liquid Stevia
1/2 fresh squeezed lime
1/2 fresh squeezed lemon
Splash of OJ
Here are my two big hacks in this drink!
1) Always sub fresh citrus when you can! NOTHING beats a fresh squeezed lime, lemon or orange!
2) Sub out high carb, inflammatory sugars for a better option! It only takes a few drops of flavored stevia to experience the same flavors of high-sugar liquors and processed syrups!
3) Liqour is what it is. You can’t get around it. There are options though if you have issues with gluten etc. I opt for a corn or potato vodka or a great tequila. Just find what works best for you so you don’t feel like total crap the next day!
